Privacy Policy
ScribeShot is designed around local files and local AI. This policy explains what remains on your Mac and the specific situations where the app or website needs network access.
1. Local-first product data
ScribeShot stores the content it creates for your library in folders you control. Depending on the features you use, this can include video metadata, available transcripts, Markdown notes, summaries, chapters, screenshots, screenshot analysis, chat history, learning material, quiz material, mind maps and other generated artifacts.
These files are intended to remain readable outside ScribeShot. You may open, copy, back up, sync or delete them with normal file-management tools.
2. Local AI processing
The current ScribeShot AI workflow uses supported local models on your Mac. ScribeShot does not currently provide a cloud AI/BYO-key provider path, and it does not need or store an AI API key for the current product workflow.
Source context used for supported AI features is processed locally on your Mac. Downloaded model files are stored locally and can be removed by you.
3. Network access that is still required
Local AI does not mean the entire product is disconnected from the internet. ScribeShot may make network requests for the following purposes:

| App downloads and updates | To download ScribeShot releases and check version or update information. |
| Purchase and licensing | To complete checkout and validate or manage licence information where required by the licensing flow. |
| Support/community links | When you choose to open an external support or community service such as Discord. |
4. Website data
The public ScribeShot website is primarily a static marketing and documentation site. Hosting or CDN infrastructure necessarily receives standard web-request information such as IP address, user agent, requested URL and request timing as part of delivering the site.
ScribeShot does not intentionally require an account just to browse the website or download the free evaluation.
5. Third-party services
- YouTube/Google: for source video access, playback and available source information.
- Gumroad: for checkout and payment processing.
- GitHub or release hosting: where used to publish or retrieve app and update information.
- Model-hosting infrastructure: where used to download supported local model files.
- Discord: only when you choose to open the ScribeShot community or support link.
6. No sale of personal data
ScribeShot does not sell personal data or the contents of your local ScribeShot library to advertisers.
7. Your controls
- Choose where your ScribeShot library is stored.
- Delete or move local notes, screenshots and generated artifacts using normal file tools.
- Remove downloaded local AI models to reclaim disk space.
- Uninstall ScribeShot at any time.
- Control external backup or sync tools separately from ScribeShot.
8. Security and limitations
ScribeShot uses local storage and normal macOS application mechanisms, but no system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting access to your Mac, backups and any external services you choose to use.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the product, legal requirements or third-party integrations change.
