What AI notes contain
ScribeShot organizes the lesson into major topics and, where useful, subsections with concise bullet points. Timestamps keep the written note tied to the original recording, so the notes work as both a study guide and a navigation layer over the video.
The concise whole-video overview is saved separately in summary.md; the fuller structured material lives in notes.md.
How long videos are handled
Long transcripts do not have to fit into one prompt. ScribeShot indexes the transcript into overlapping chunks, generates structured material per chunk, corrects chapter timestamps against the real transcript text, and reduces the results into the final lesson. This lets the same workflow handle much longer lectures and tutorials without silently dropping the later parts of the video.
Add the visual layer while you watch
A transcript can explain what the speaker said but cannot preserve a diagram, code editor, terminal command, slide, or equation that was only visible on screen. Capture those frames while you watch. ScribeShot files each screenshot with the relevant time in the lesson so the written note and visual evidence stay together.
Use the files outside ScribeShot
The generated notes are ordinary Markdown, so you can edit them in any text editor, index them with your own tools, or keep them in Obsidian. If you want a shareable document instead, use Export PDF without replacing the source Markdown.
Common questions
Are the notes locked inside ScribeShot?
No. The main notes and summary are ordinary Markdown files stored in the folder you chose.
Can I use local AI to generate the notes?
Yes. The built-in Gemma 4 models support the structured notes pipeline, or you can use your own OpenAI key.
